Yoshiko “Yoppi” is a New York–based vocalist, singer-songwriter, and music educator.

She began playing piano at the age of three and grew up in Osaka, Chiba, and Tokyo. During her school years she performed in brass bands playing saxophone and trumpet, and later discovered jazz through a university jazz club. After being scouted at a jazz live house in Tokyo, she began her professional singing career in 2000.

Drawn to the emotional depth of lyrics and the freedom of improvisation, her musical style incorporates expressive storytelling and scat improvisation.

In 2008, she moved to New York, where she has continued performing as a vocalist and songwriter. She performs in New York as well as internationally, including appearances in Japan and London. Her original works include the albums The Love Song (2019) and Bubbles (2023), along with several single releases.

Alongside her performing career, Yoshiko is deeply involved in music education. She runs a music school in New York where she teaches using the Eurhythmics (Dalcroze) method, encouraging musicality, creativity, and self-expression in children. She studied Eurhythmics for seven years with Dr. Ruth Alperson at Hoff-Barthelson Music School and holds Level 3 certification.

Through both performance and teaching, Yoshiko continues to share music that connects deeply with people.

ニューヨーク在住のボーカリスト／シンガーソングライター、音楽教育者。3歳よりピアノを始め、幼少期を大阪、千葉、東京で過ごす。学生時代はブラスバンドでサックスやトランペットを担当し、大学在学中にジャズと出会う。都内のジャズライブハウスでスカウトされたことをきっかけに、2000年よりジャズボーカリストとして活動を開始。

歌詞の奥深さや哀愁、そしてインプロヴィゼーションの魅力に惹かれ、スキャットや自由な表現を取り入れたスタイルで歌い続けている。

2008年にニューヨークへ移住。以来、ニューヨークを拠点にライブ活動を行い、日本やロンドンなどでも演奏を重ねている。
シンガーソングライターとしてオリジナル作品も制作し、アルバム『The Love Song』（2019）、『Bubbles』（2023）をリリース。その他シングル作品も発表している。

また音楽教育にも力を注ぎ、ニューヨークにて音楽学校を主宰。リトミックメソッドを取り入れた音楽教育や、子どもたちの感性や表現力を育むレッスンを行っている。Hoff-Barthelson Music Schoolにて7年間Dr. Ruth Alperson氏に師事し、リトミック技能レベル3を取得。

歌うこと、音楽を共有することを通して、人の心に寄り添う音楽を届け続けている。
